Background

This document is shared with all Masterpoint clients as an introduction to our processes and what you can expect when working with us. It highlights important aspects of how we operate and communicate.

Who we are

We are infrastructure as code subject matter experts and consultants. We help our clients build efficient, scalable platforms that they can operate and own. Our overall goal with all engagements is to help you make infrastructure a strategic advantage instead of a liability that's holding you back.

Our promise to you

We’re dedicated to providing value for your organization. If at any point you’re unhappy over the course of the engagement, please reach out directly to @Matt Gowie via Slack or email ([email protected]) or your assigned project manager and we’ll work to change that around.

How we communicate

We’re a primarily Slack driven organization. Utilizing Slack Connect is one of our requirements to working with client organizations.

With Slack, our aim is to create transparent, asynchronous discussions so that we cut down on costly meetings and move forward projects.

As a client, you can expect the following:

  1. An “administration” Slack channel — This channel is only shared with client leadership. It is primarily in place so that leadership can communicate directly with Matt or a project manager without ICs being involved. Topics typically discussed are billing, SOW questions or concerns, and anything else that you would like to keep private.
  2. A “general” Slack channel — This channel is primarily setup for our team and your team to discuss the project, status updates, and any other asynchronous comms we need to complete our work.
  3. A periodic status report — Status updates depends on the engagement, but if we’re doing recurring implementation work for you this is one of the ways that we keep our status on a project transparent to your organization. Weekly one of the Masterpoint team members on the project will provide a status report through Slack. This helps us keep you up-to-date on where we’re at and enables you to surface any questions on direction or change in priorities. Cadence of status reports can change if our team is not actively implementing anything on your project, but that will be made clear at that time.

Please feel free to rename any Slack connect channel on your end that we’ve invited you to once we’ve created them. That is not seen on our end and is expected.

Masterpoint Pattern Library

We’re hyper focused on all of our clients leveraging best practices and not reinventing the wheel. To ensure all clients get access to our most up-to-date way of thinking about various problems + workflows, we’ve put together a library of solutions to problems, such as:

  1. Enforcing IaC Quality Locally and in CI
  2. Why OpenTofu?
  3. IaC Automation: Build vs Buy

We share this with all clients as a long-term value add. You can access it here:
